Paid marketing vs organic marketing

Paid marketing is the process of executing a marketing campaign via paid advertising online not only using social media alone but also using search engines such as Google. Contrarily, organic marketing refers to the process of marketing for free commonly using content, social media, emails etc in order to build online presence.

Advantages of paid marketing:

  • Can be executed quickly
  • Provides results fast
  • Reaches a large number of people
  • Is easily controlled and can be filtered as to targeting demographics

Disadvantages of paid advertising:

  • May not attract genuine interest as results are paid for
  • Can be costly
  • Results may not be maintained over a longer period of time

Advantages of organic marketing:

  • Provides more effective results as audience is not bought
  • Allows you to develop customer loyalty
  • Enables you to build trust
  • It is free
  • It is more sustainable long – term

Disadvantages of organic marketing:

  • It is time consuming
  • You can find that there are some restrictions by specific platforms which can interfere with marketing activity e.g social media algorithms

Do I need paid marketing or organic marketing?

Whichever approach you decide to take depends on your businesses’ specific objectives. You are able to choose a single approach or even use a combination of the two meet your goals.
